Rooftop

Mayfair, London

I’ll admit there’s not a great deal to see here, apart a blue plaque and a busy street scene in a salubrious part of town.

But to have been wandering past on a cold January day in 1969 during a tight 45 minute window, would have been to have heard the embers of a live band playing their latest songs from a rooftop 6 storeys up. It’s true that most would have witnessed very little, but the presence of what was going on high above might’ve hyped up the intensity of the moment for some.

The Beatles' rooftop concert

The sounds would have drifted down, intermingling with the traffic below, strangers connecting with one another, all caught up in the mayhem of 4 musicians (and a guest keyboardist) playing music on a London rooftop.

I snapped this stark image, if only to remind myself that there are specific moments in the history of life that should I had known Dr. Emmett Brown and his DMC DeLorean time machine had actually worked, here would have been an event to wander along to.
