A safe space, a place of refuge away from a bewildering harassing drudgery outside its enveloping doors.
Once the toast of every High Street up and down the land. A room where the latest and the greatest share the same racks. Music booming, cover art gleaming, gatefold, trifold or flexi-disc, t-shirts dangling from the woodwork.
This is not a quiet place, if you were looking for that, try the library…if it’s open.
These days you have to search a little harder to find a record store, and dig a little deeper to discover the real gems within, but then that has always been most of the fun for the record hunter.

This cosy den of cardboard and wax, just off the main drag in Guildford, is no different from all the other splendid examples that dot our townscape.
So next time, peer a little further down a side street, for maybe just out of sight, one of these tightly packed art galleries is tucked away, the music pumping, all waiting to be discovered.
