Misericord. Misery Chord.
A Mercy Seat.
Don’t be fooled (again) by the spelling, listen for the drawl. Oh what a curious word. Must be a corruption surely? Words such as cul-de-sac and dodgy make me smile, I just don’t have the etymology to know where or when their creation occurred, but pay no mind with great sounds and sights like these.
These wood carvings are of original thought, they are funny, at times cheeky, all exquisitely sublime. Crafted by visionaries whose names were simply never recorded, they are their legacy and simply exquisite.

They are one of my fav types of woodcraft, functional but beautifully, and for most part, loaded with humour. In a world so serious, with much at stake, to take the weight off, quite literally, but appear still standing is nothing short of genius.
